If an activity is certified for physician CME, then the CME certificate issued to physicians is for earning AMA PRA Category 1™ credit.
Activities certified for physicians may also be eligible for American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM) Maintenance of Certification (MOC) points.
In these cases, upon successful completion of the activity, ABIM Diplomates may opt in for their ABIM MOC points to be transmitted to ABIM via the ACCME PARS system.
Some physician activities may also be accredited for American Academy of Family Physician (AAFP) credit. In these cases, this will appear in the accreditation statement and on the CME certificate.
Any other professional (not registered as a physician) will receive a letter of completion (LOC) certificate.
The CME Tracker shows MOC points and CME credits as well as LOC credits for physicians. LOCs are issued for credits earned by a physician for activities that were not certified for physician CME.
If an activity is certified for nurse CE, then nurses will receive a CE certificate for ANCC nurse CE credit.
The CE Tracker shows CE credits and LOC credits for nurses. LOCs are issued for credits earned by a nurse for activities that were not certified for nurse CE.
If an activity is certified for pharmacist CE, then pharmacists will receive a CE Statement of Credit that explains that their ACPE credit will be transmitted to CPE Monitor.
The CE Tracker shows CE credits and LOC credits for pharmacists. LOCs are issued for credits earned by a pharmacist for activities that were not certified for pharmacist CE.
Any professional other than one whom an activity is certified for will receive an LOC which will state the credit for which the activity was designated. You will need to check with your individual licensing board or certification organization to determine whether the credit will be accepted.
If an activity is certified for physicians, the LOC will state that the activity was designated AMA PRA Category 1™ credit, as many other professions can use credit for activities designated for AMA PRA Category 1™.
If the activity is not certified for physicians, than the LOC will contain the credit designation statement for the applicable credit that the activity is certified for (ie, ANCC or ACPE).
The Credit Type column in all trackers shows the credit type for each activity.
